Which VPS should you run Dokploy on?

By The ServerSearcher Team ·

Dokploy installs onto a server you rent. Its docs ask for at least 2 GB RAM and 30 GB of disk. We would start at 4 GB RAM and 2 vCPU, and move to 8 GB and 4 vCPU if you build apps on the same server that runs them.

This guide lists current plans from the providers ServerSearcher tracks, and says where that list stops. It is not a test report: we have not installed Dokploy on these plans, and we do not cover setup here. The official Dokploy documentation, linked below, is the place for installation steps.

What Dokploy says it needs

From the Dokploy installation docs:

  • At least 2 GB RAM and 30 GB disk. The docs say this is to handle what Docker uses during builds and to prevent system freezes.
  • Ports 80 (HTTP), 443 (HTTPS) and 3000 (the Dokploy web interface) free.
  • Docker with Docker Swarm.
  • Tested by the Dokploy team on Ubuntu 18.04 to 24.04, Debian 10 to 12, Fedora 40 and CentOS 8 and 9.

Dokploy can also build on a separate build server, so a small box only runs the result. Its docs say build servers work for Applications and are not supported for Docker Compose deployments.

Which size to pick

This is our guidance, built on those docs. It is not an official Dokploy tier.

  • 2 vCPU, 4 GB: a few small apps and a database. Go here if builds run in CI or on a separate build server. The 2 GB minimum leaves little once an app, its database and Dokploy's own services are running.
  • 4 vCPU, 8 GB: Dokploy builds your apps on the same server. Builds spike memory and CPU, and this is the size where they stop competing with what is already running.

Plans with at least 4 GB RAM

The lowest-priced candidate plan from each checked provider, read from the catalogue when this page was generated (catalogue refreshed 24 October 2026 at 11:21 UTC). Plans are ordered by their USD equivalent, so a euro or pound price is converted for ordering only and is shown in the currency the provider lists. Prices are month-to-month rates as listed by the provider: check VAT or sales tax, billing currency and the data centre location at checkout. The live filtered search has the full list.

These are candidates, not tested or guaranteed installs: we have not run Coolify or Dokploy on any of them. Left out: providers we have not checked (see below), plans tagged Shared IP, Windows and Desktop plans, HDD-only plans, anything under 30 GB of disk and plans with no USD conversion. The Windows and Desktop match is by plan name, so check the image before you order.

What we checked with the providers

The plan tables only list providers whose own pages we read on 24 October 2026 and found to describe a full virtual server with a public IPv4 address. ServerSearcher also tracks Database Mart, HostKey, Latitude.sh and RunPod. They are not listed because we have not checked them for this use, not because they failed. None of the pages below promises that ports 80, 443 and 3000 are open by default, so check the firewall defaults and any provider-side port policy before you rely on a plan.

  • Clouvider lists a virtual machine with a free IPv4 address. The page does not mention root access or the virtualisation type.
  • InterServer lists KVM VPS, root access and static public IP addresses.
  • Cherry Servers lists root access over SSH or VNC console, and its docs say VPS instances deploy with an IPv4 floating IP as the primary public IP.
  • IONOS lists full root access, a KVM console and IPv4 and IPv6 dual stack for VPS.
  • DigitalOcean says each Droplet gets its own public IPv4 address by default, and Droplets are Linux virtual machines.
  • Vultr documents a public IPv4 address assigned on deployment. Its deploy options include a limited user login instead of root, so pick the root option.

Check before you buy

  • Ports 80, 443 and 3000. Dokploy needs them free. Avoid plans that share an IPv4 address between customers.
  • A supported OS. Pick one of the tested distributions listed in the docs.
  • Disk type. Docker images pile up. Prefer SSD or NVMe over HDD for builds.
  • Backups. You own the server and its updates. Test a restore before you rely on it.

Where this list stops

ServerSearcher tracks a limited set of providers, not the whole market. It does not list Hetzner, which the Dokploy docs call the best value for money. Compare Hetzner Cloud on its own site if you want that option. Provider links on this site can be affiliate links, and our methodology page explains where prices come from.
