Which VPS should you run Coolify on?

By The ServerSearcher Team ·

Coolify runs on a server you own, so the real question is which VPS. Coolify documents a minimum of 2 CPU cores, 2 GB RAM and 10 GB of disk. We would start at 4 GB RAM and 2 vCPU, and move to 8 GB and 4 vCPU if builds and databases share the same server.

This guide lists current plans from the providers ServerSearcher tracks, and says where that list stops. It is not a test report: we have not installed Coolify on these plans.

What Coolify says it needs

From the Coolify installation docs:

  • Any server you can reach over SSH: a VPS, a dedicated server or a Linux VM.
  • Minimum 2 CPU cores, 2 GB RAM and 10 GB free disk, on amd64 or arm64. It can start on 1 core and 1 GB, but the docs say that is not recommended.
  • A fresh server is recommended, and Ubuntu should be an LTS release.
  • A standard install runs Coolify, its own PostgreSQL and Redis, and a reverse proxy on each server. Coolify reaches your servers over SSH, so there is no agent to install.
  • The dashboard is on port 8000 at first. Open ports 80 and 443 and point DNS at the server for HTTPS.

The deploy-on-your-own-VPS page adds the part that decides your plan size: by default, Coolify builds on the server that runs the app. Heavy builds can make a small server unresponsive. It suggests a separate build server, or building elsewhere and deploying the image.

Which size to pick

This is our guidance, built on those docs. It is not an official Coolify tier.

  • 2 vCPU, 4 GB: a few small apps or static sites, with images built in CI or on another machine. Coolify's docs show a maintainer running 16 static sites, 9 Rust APIs, 5 full-stack apps, 4 bots, 7 workers, 2 Valkey databases and a PostgreSQL database on a 2 vCPU, 4 GB server. Those apps are built elsewhere and heavily optimised, so treat it as a ceiling for a light workload.
  • 4 vCPU, 8 GB: Node, Rails or Next.js apps that build on the box, plus a database and previews. Builds spike memory, and 8 GB gives them room beside Coolify's own containers.
  • Less than 4 GB: only if you accept the docs' "not recommended" warning.

Plans with at least 4 GB RAM

The lowest-priced candidate plan from each checked provider, read from the catalogue when this page was generated (catalogue refreshed 24 October 2026 at 11:21 UTC). Plans are ordered by their USD equivalent, so a euro or pound price is converted for ordering only and is shown in the currency the provider lists. Prices are month-to-month rates as listed by the provider: check VAT or sales tax, billing currency and the data centre location at checkout. The live filtered search has the full list.

These are candidates, not tested or guaranteed installs: we have not run Coolify or Dokploy on any of them. Left out: providers we have not checked (see below), plans tagged Shared IP, Windows and Desktop plans, HDD-only plans, anything under 30 GB of disk and plans with no USD conversion. The Windows and Desktop match is by plan name, so check the image before you order.

What we checked with the providers

The plan tables only list providers whose own pages we read on 24 October 2026 and found to describe a full virtual server with a public IPv4 address. ServerSearcher also tracks Database Mart, HostKey, Latitude.sh and RunPod. They are not listed because we have not checked them for this use, not because they failed. None of the pages below promises that ports 80 and 443 are open by default, so check the firewall defaults and any provider-side port policy before you rely on a plan.

  • Clouvider lists a virtual machine with a free IPv4 address. The page does not mention root access or the virtualisation type.
  • InterServer lists KVM VPS, root access and static public IP addresses.
  • Cherry Servers lists root access over SSH or VNC console, and its docs say VPS instances deploy with an IPv4 floating IP as the primary public IP.
  • IONOS lists full root access, a KVM console and IPv4 and IPv6 dual stack for VPS.
  • DigitalOcean says each Droplet gets its own public IPv4 address by default, and Droplets are Linux virtual machines.
  • Vultr documents a public IPv4 address assigned on deployment. Its deploy options include a limited user login instead of root, so pick the root option.

Check before you buy

  • Public ports. Coolify needs 80 and 443 for HTTPS. Avoid plans that share an IPv4 address between customers.
  • Disk type. Docker images and volumes grow quickly. Builds on a slow HDD plan are slow.
  • CPU architecture. Coolify supports amd64 and arm64, but your images need to match the server.
  • Backups. You own the server. Coolify can back up databases and volumes to S3-compatible storage, but the restore is yours to test.

Where this list stops

ServerSearcher tracks a limited set of providers, not the whole market. It does not list Hetzner, which the Coolify docs suggest as a provider. Compare Hetzner Cloud on its own site if you want that option. Provider links on this site can be affiliate links, and our methodology page explains where prices come from.
